Of the almost 100 million Filipinos, approximately 2.3 million are Overseas Filipino Workers, with roughly 4,500 Filipinos leaving the country daily to pursue jobs in other countries. Hopes and dreams for a better future propels these modern day heroes to seek employment abroad, where they toil selflessly, with only their faith, hope and determination to carry them through, bereft of the company of their loved ones back home.
Recognizing that the OFWs—despite their sacrifices and hardships—remain a largely underserved segment, the first Overseas Filipino Expo caters to the needs of overseas Filipinos and their families to discuss the challenges and successes of living and working overseas. It also aims to highlight stories from balikbayans making a difference back in the home country. In these shared tales of voyages, baggages, and life in foreign lands, the expo hopes to shine a spotlight on the realities of OFWs and provide quality information about global opportunities and local possibilities.
The 1st Overseas Filipino Expo will be held on 16 June 2018, Saturday, 10 am – 8pm, Expo Hall of Fisher Mall, Quezon City.
